Overlooking the Gulf of Naples, in the characteristic Chiaia district, The Hotel Britannique has recently undergone a redevelopment by Gnosis Progetti, emphasising the architectural value of the historic building by distinguishing the “additions” and preserving the original image.
The Hotel Britannique redevelopment project saw an important innovative element on the building’s façade. A large central window separates the two original bodies: a decomposed and dynamic scanning of glass that slopes upwards. The same large glass surfaces are found on the roof level where the light that marks the entrance also reaches the top level and spreads its wings to embrace the entire hotel. The wall that blocked the roof’s view of the sea became a glass wall, from where the gaze extends.
