This rustic dwelling, enveloped in the verdant countryside, has been given a new lease of life through this restoration project. The interior has been renovated and the daytime area enlarged through the addition of a new feature in glass and cor-ten steel with large windows that look out onto the surrounding landscape. Seen from outside the glass reflects the greenery and becomes one with the setting; once inside the glass seems to melt away giving the sense of a continuous expanse of space that melds into the scenery beyond. The architet has planned this volume with glass and Cor-Ten steel deeply oxidated in order to maintain the harmony with the rural characteristic of the site. Particular care was taken to maximise the energy containment and acoustic comfort of the building through the use of doors and windows realized with extra thick thermal insulated profiles and high performance glass, an inclusion that also benefits the passive safety of the wide glass wall.
