A rationalist building from the 20th century, this contemporary villa engages with the landscape of the Castelli Romani preserving its original character, defined by sculptural, almost abstract forms.

The refurbishment project, led by Giuseppe Cangialosi and Elena Jodice (mzc+ architectural studio based in Treviso), stems from a reflection on the relationship between architecture and the natural environment. Here, the landscape becomes an integral part of the design through large openings fitted with minimalist steel frames, which open up from the individual rooms like paintings onto the surroundings.

Constructed using the FerroFinestra W75 TB thermal break system, doors and windows with clean lines become key elements in a complex process of subtraction and simplification that restores integrity to the spac-es and reinforces their character.

This thoughtful restoration project aimed to preserve the historical features that reflect the Italian tradition, from Portaluppi to Giò Ponti, which defines the intentionally bourgeois standards of the 20th century villa. A reflection on the preservation of beauty and its codes, understood as the living essence of contemporary design.
